Cat Psychology

Divine Creatures-0076-min

Jules dos Santos obtained her Level 4 Diploma as a Cat Psychologist with distinctions and has successfully rehabilitated many troubled cats and restored many cat-owner relationships over the years.

Almost 75% of cats who are surrendered to the pounds are surrendered due to undesirable behaviours. With 130,000 cats euthanized in Australia every year, it is devastating that for a small fee of employing a Cat Psychologist, these numbers could be greatly reduced and even eliminated.

Cat behaviour problems can have a catastrophic impact on the family. Jules can assist in the modification of the cat behaviour problems and help their owners have a fulfilling and loving relationship.

Jules dos Santos

founder, cat whisperer, veterinary nurse

Growing up with animals Jules’ passion for animals began when she was a toddler! Desperate to work with animals she volunteered at her local veterinary hospital when she was just 14 years old. In 1998 Jules qualified as a veterinary nurse shortly after starting her career as a GP nurse and later became the head specialist surgical nurse at a surgical specialist centre. Jules found her love in emergency and critical care nursing in 2003 where she later became the manager of the emergency department of the renowned Veterinary Specialist Centre.

Jules spent several years working as a volunteer with her Border Collie as a pet therapy dog and also has a particular interest in tigers, donating generously to WWF sponsoring tigers, as well as many other animal charity groups. After many years working in emergency Jules nursed many cats who became sick after boarding in sub-standard facilities. It was evident that the standards were appalling and so the concept of a luxury cat hotel started. Divine Creatures was created in 2010 with one aim: to provide the very best care and accommodation away from home for our feline friends!

In 2020 Jules excellence in Cat Boarding was recognised by the Pet Industry Association and was appointed as the Director for Boarding and Pet Care Services for the Pet Industry Association. She hopes to use her term in the association to raise the standards of pet boarding and pet care services across Australia.

Jules is also a qualified cat psychologist obtaining her Diploma in Advance Feline Behaviour and Cat Psychology. Jules also has a deep passion for animal welfare and animal rights and is one of Oscar’s Law advocates, promoting the ‘Adopt Don’t Shop’. In 2021 Jules followed her passion for rescue and founded Ninth Life Foundation, a charity dedicated to rescuing senior or high care cats.

Jules sits on the subcommittee for Skills Impact, a government advisory body for Animal Industry Skills as well as advisory group for the Animal Justice Party.

qualified veterinary nurse, cat carer

Maddie is a qualified veterinary nurse with a huge passion for animal welfare. She has grown up with animals her entire life, and as an only child always viewed them as siblings or members of her family. She loves all animals, but is definitely a cat person and stops to pat almost every cat she sees. When she is not working at her busy veterinary clinic or at Divine Creatures she loves to get creative by painting/drawing and exploring her love for makeup.

Cat Hotel Manager

When Rose first set eyes on her rescue kitten as a young child she was fascinated with felines. She read books about cats, watched movies about cats, dressed up as a cat and had countless cat related accessories and toys.

After school Rose completed a Bachelor of Communications at university but in 2016 decided that the calling towards an animal-based career was stronger than communications. This led to completing a Certificate 2 in Animal Studies and a role in a veterinary hospital.

As the years progressed Rose transitioned again, this time to the travel industry and a role with a different kind of cat obsession.

Before joining Divine Creatures, Rose organised 5 star luxury safaris all over Africa so she could share the incredible experience of witnessing a big cat in the wild with others.

Rose has a fur family of four at home and a genuine love for all animals big and small.

As Cat Hotel Manager Rose looks after customer bookings across both Divine Creatures & Luxury Cat Lodge to ensure guests have a holiday to remember.
